Since 1950, Stevens Aviation has set the standard for excellence in aircraft sales, service and management. Its rich history began in Greenville, SC when Robert T. Stevens, President of The J.P. Stevens Company, decided to start his own flight department. Soon Stevens hired Ralph Cuthbertson who quickly acquired a Twin Beech for the company.

Cuthbertson employed Tim Heflin as copilot and enlisted his own wife Gaynelle to handle the administration of the fledgling flight department. After a slow start, J.P Stevens' employees soon discovered the convenience of flying, and by the late 1950's, the company had a fleet of Twin Beeches. Stevens Aviation has subsequently operated numerous types of aircraft, from DC-3s to King Airs and Falcons.

By the mid 1950's, Stevens Aviation expanded its capabilities by pumping fuel and doing repairs on transient aircraft. The flight department quickly outgrew its hangar at the Greenville Downtown Airport and in 1962, Stevens became the only FBO at the newly constructed Greenville-Spartanburg Airport.

In 1968, Stevens Aviation became a Beechcraft distributor, accelerating the growth of the company. By the end of the decade, Stevens' capabilities went well beyond aircraft charter, line services and maintenance. Over 100 people were employed at Stevens, the fleet of aircraft had grown to more than two dozen and the company rapidly developed a reputation for being one of the best King Air shops in the region.

By the 1980's, Stevens Aviation had become a full service facility offering maintenance, avionics, completions, sales and FBO services. That was also the decade that marked Stevens' expansion beyond its Greenville-Spartanburg location, and in 1989, the developing chain of FBO's was acquired by NTC Group of Greenwich, Connecticut.

The 1990's saw Stevens' continued growth and a deepening of its knowledge and experience to include numerous types of aircraft. Currently, Authorized Service Center status has been granted Stevens by Beechcraft/Raytheon, Bombardier Learjet and Piaggio Aero. Stevens also has technicians trained and experienced in the Cessna Citation series and the Cessna Turboprop series of aircraft.

By 1998, Stevens had completed the 200,000 square foot, world-class facility at The Donaldson Center Industrial Airpark in Greenville, SC, where the company's corporate headquarters is now located.

Currently operating five locations across the country and offering maintenance, avionics, refurbishment, line services and aircraft sales, management and charter; Stevens Aviation entered the new millennium poised to continue growth and its tradition of customer success.
